Blended Holiday Coffee

Serving size: 8 ounces


34 ounces water
4 tablespoons ground coffee
4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
4 teaspoons raw cacao powder
1 teaspoon ground cloves
½ cup European-style unsalted butter (Plugra and Kerrygold are excellent brands, found in most grocery and health food stores)
1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract


1. Fill coffeemaker with the water. Place a coffee filter in the coffeemaker and add the ground coffee, cinnamon, cacao powder and cloves. Brew
the coffee.

2. While the coffee is brewing, place the butter and vanilla into a blender. When the coffee is finished brewing, let it drip 2 to 3 more minutes to drain the coffee filter, as the spices will hold the water longer.

3. Add the brewed coffee to the blender. Cover tightly and blend on high speed for 30 seconds. Immediately pour the blended coffee into coffee mugs and dust each serving with cinnamon, cloves and cacao powder.

Variation: For spiced-only blended coffee, leave out the cacao powder and decrease the vanilla extract from 1 tablespoon to 2 teaspoons.
