Firehouse Popcorn

Preparation time: 3 minutes
Cooking time: 3 1/2 minutes

Yield: 2 1/2 servings
Serving size: 1 3/4 cups

2 tablespoons unrefined coconut oil
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
4 cups air-popped or 1 package microwave popcorn, salted only, no butter or flavorings. (Orville Redenbacher’s Naturals Simply Salted Classic Bag was used in this recipe.)

1. Set aside a large mixing bowl.

2. Place the coconut oil, chili powder, cumin, and cayenne pepper in a small saucepan. Over low heat, uncovered, melt the coconut oil while stirring occasionally (about 1 minute). Turn off heat.

3. Pop the popcorn according to package directions, then pour into the large bowl.

4. Drizzle the popcorn with the spiced oil and gently toss, using 2 spoons, for 2 minutes to mix well.

Note: If using air-popped popcorn, add 1/2 teaspoon sea salt to the spiced oil mixture.
